The first day that we moved into our house I think Kristi's exact words were, "We need to change that ceiling fan!" As I always do I listen then 4 years later respond. When we painted our house we borrowed some scaffolding from Kristi's uncle Jim. At first I didn't think it was going to work because on the outside we had to stand on our tippy toes to paint all the way up to the top but when Kristi told me that Jim was coming to pick up the scaffolding I said I better see how far it will get me. To my surprise it didn't only get me to the top but I actually had to duck.
Here is the old fan getting retired!!

It was one of those old 1980's fan and the biggest problem we had was that it was only controlled by a light switch so it was either on or off. We wanted one with a remote so we could at least change the speeds.

We decided to go with something simple. We didn't want a light because we thought it would look funny since it is mounted so high. This time we got one that was remote adaptable so I was able to hook it to that and we now have a remote. GOOD TIMES!!

We are both really happy with the choice. Now Kristi has to tell me what she wants for her next project and in 4 years it will be done!!.

You've got guts Gamradt! I think it's a good thing you didn't get one with a light because how the heck would you change the light bulb??
Yes, I am very impressed! I would be scared silly to climb up there. Do you contract out for hire? Your 4 year response time is nothing -- I think Chris's is right around the 8 year mark. We can provide a floor (complete with blanket and small pillow), peanut butter sandwiches and water, and a 15 minute break for every 10 hours worked. All we ask is that you take care of travel expenses and all building materials, etc. Deal?
Yes, I too am impressed AND my stomach turns a little looking at those pics of the tight rope walker! Are you kidding me, you were up there working with a net or a harness??!!
You can change our living room fan anytime, but you won't need any scaffolding:)
Hats off to RG,
