Yesterday we went over to the Dyk's to watch the Seahawks and some football. When the game was getting a little out of hand Kristi asked me if I would be interested in doing a little experiment with her. She wanted to see what the Passat would look like with the twins an Addyson car seat all together in the back seat. We first took Addysons car seat and then borrowed Andrews forward facing car seat and Mayli car seat and crammed them all together and here is the result.
We had to move the passenger seat a good amount forward just so we had room to buckle them all in. It was a pretty TIGHT fit to say the least. I say, "Bring on the MINIVAN!!"

Addyson would sure be cozy!!! At least she would be sitting in between them to make sure they wouldn't fight!! Deputy Addy is what we would call her!!
Here is a picture from the driver side. I guess we could make it work but if any family comes to visit and we pick them up at airport they might want to plan on riding in the trunk!!

I say embrace the mini-van concept. Mine's fantastic. Matt or I often ride in the back with the kids on long drives to keep them entertained, operate the DVD player, put back in pacifiers.
It also eliminates fights between the adults because if only one person is up front they get full control of the radio.
I'm just saying. Consider it.
Minivans suck! Kristi, Brooke and I all had an agreement in college that we would never get a minivan. Don't break the pact KPG!!!! It's called an SUV! At least let Momma Kristi ride in style!
Jeannette, you know I love you dearly, but Tim is right! What's next??? - one of those terrible "child on board" signs that overly neurotic parents suction to their car windows?
Welcome to the dark side! An MV is the only way to travel with three kids. I took that same pact in highschool, but screw it, that was three kids ago. I'm telling you they are so practical you will never want to drive anything else. Especially if you are driving any sort of long distance.
I love the comment about the baby on board sign... I am thinking Christmas gift!
Do minivans have 4wheel drive? That's what I thought! Good luck getting up the pass to visit Grandma and Grandpa Pair! Get a nice set of chains to put on.. you can store it with that (babies) on board sign!
I'm with Jed -- screw the pact. Trust me, there is no SUV out there that has a backseat that can squeeze two infant seats and a toddler seat. We've looked. A LOT. Yes, they're lame, but so so very practical. I wouldn't trade mine for the world. (I can't believe I just said that.) Bravo on coming to terms with this fact of parenting three under three early -- we didn't break down and buy our van until two months before the babies were born.
PS -- You can't forget the Student of the Month bumper sticker on the back of the van once the kiddos are in school! :)
Here's my opinion:
1 kid - no way!
2 kids - debatable.
3 kids - no brainer!!
I am all for convenience though. I pout when I have to get one kid in Matt's truck because it's such a pain. Or if someone parks too close and you have to sqeeze in. Image dealing with that with three!! Go MINI VANS! :)
PS. Who knew it was such a hot topic!
Check out the Mazda5...that is what we have, they are great. They have the convenience of the sliding doors and 5 passenger seats (plus one driver), but its NOT a MV, its classified as a wagon...the only way my husband would buy it. Check them out...seriously.
