Target Field

Ever since I was a kid the only way to watch a Major League Baseball game in Minnesota was inside the Metro Dome. I'll admit growing up I thought that place was the coolest place that ever existed. You had the white roof for players to loose the ball in, you had all the noise, and when you left the air pressure literally pushed you out of the building. It can't get any better then that right? Well that's what I thought until I went and watched a game at Safeco Field and got my introduction to "REAL" outdoor baseball. After that all I could think is, who would want to play indoors and when are the Twins going to get an outdoor stadium? After waiting 5 years and a couple of months the stadium was complete and I was finally able to go and watch a Twins game, outdoors, in a beautiful stadium. Welcome to Target Field!!

Here Krsiti, my parents, and I await for the gates to open! Of course we had to enter through the Kirby Puckett gate!

My nephew, Brady was also able to join in the fun and come along with us to the game.

The view from our seats looking into Minneapolis! It was absolutely awesome the only bad part was I think we might of went on one of the hottest day's in Minnesota history. In fact there was a group of kids sitting right in front of us were Kristi and I just happen to see this one small girl that wasn't doing that well. It got to the point where Kristi and I were just about to get up and go and buy her some ice cream and some water but one of the chaperons finally noticed her and took her to get something to drink.

Here is our view from our seats looking onto the field. We could only get tickets in the nose bleed section but just like Safeco there isn't really a bad seat in the house.

Having a nice cool beverage with Pop's! My brother, Josh, his wife Laura, and their son Oliver also came with us to the game but it was just to hot for Oliver so they had to leave early! I guess Josh felt Oliver was to young to have beer as a cool down beverage! What is wrong with him? (I just noticed this, if you look at the girl in front of us next to my right knee. That is the girl that wasn't doing so well in the heat. We felt so BAD for her, I should of gave her my beer!)

Here is the famous Minnie and Paul sign. If your not familiar with it, Minnie is named after Minneapolis and Paul is named after St. Paul which are the two cities that makes up the Twin Cities which in turn gives you the Minnesota Twins! Minneapolis and St. Paul are divided by the Mississippi river that you can see flow between them. When the Twins hit a home run, the river along with the sign lights up and Minni and Paul shake hands. It also lights up in different sequences for different things like a strike out, or if the Twins don't surrender a run, and of course when they win. One interesting note is that the guy who created the cartoon logo was only paid $15.00 in 1961 he also just recently passed away at the age of 80.

Outside the stadium they have different statues and other cool artifacts built after some of the Twins greats like Tony Olivia, Kent Hrbek, Rod Carew, Kirby Puckett and Harmon Killebrew. Here is a statue of Harmon swinging away. The statue is exactly 520 feet away from home plate the same distance he hit a home run, which happens to be the furthest hit home run in Minnesota Twins history!

Then of course there is my biggest baseball idol, Kirby Puckett. This is a statue of him rounding the bases after hitting his home run in the bottom of the 11th during the 1991 World Series.
I think if you ask any Minnesota Twins fan, what the announcer said after he hit the home run they would say, "And we will see you tomorrow night!" without you even blinking an eye. Still my GREATEST sport event I have ever witness. RIP Puckett!!!
